As I has some stuff to work with, I decided to go with a separate picture for the plain S98 and the sawback S98 bayonets.
This one depicts my 5 examples of the Seitengewehr 1898 (alter Art and neuer Art), mit Säge. I positioned some as such you can clearly see the difference between aA and nA, the most striking one is of course the U-shaped grip on aA opposed to the two piece wooden grip on the nA. There are some more subtle differences as well but that would take us a little bit to deep. From the top to the bottom:
S98 aA mS - Erfurt, Prussia 1900 - Matching for Kgl. Sächs. 108 R. Schützen Füselier Regiment.
Original leather scabbard, all Saxon S98aAmS have Prussian Abnahme. Important here is that a sawback scabbard will always have a square mouth and not an oval one.
S98 nA mS - P.D. Lüneschloss, Prussia 1906 - Matching for 114. Inf. Reg. (6. Badisches) "Kaiser Friedrich III". Original leather scabbard. The bayonet is a rare version with flashguard, a wartime modification for use on the Kar98.
S98 aA mS - Erfurt, Prussia 1900 - Ostasiatisches Expeditiekorps; Oberkommando - served in China.
Steel Ersatz scabbard for the sawback model (Type I in Williams). Marked FAG on the back for Friedrich August Gobel. Not very appropriate for this bayonet, but I don't have the original scabbard and had this one around.
S98 nA mS - WKC, Saxony 1915.
Steel Ersatz scabbard for the sawback model (Type II). Also made by FAG but with a different edge (simulated stitching), original paint. One of the last S98s produced ever, rare with Saxon issue.
S98 nA mS - Schilling, Bavaria 1903.
Steel Ersatz scabbard for a plain model (Type IV) but modified with a new throat by Czech forces in a post-war life. Matching numbers, original paint.
