I have this M1842 bayonet but it has no engraving on the back of the blade. Is it french or german or made somewhere else ? |

Hi, Do you have the muzzlering diameter? I think this is an model made for the Defense Nationale but I`m not for 100% sure.. I`ll start searching when I`m home again. It is a nice piece! Well done |

Do you have the muzzle diameter? The french bayonet should be marked on the back of the blade. This bayonet was also produced by Germany, Belgium and the United States and was used during the American civil war. They were manufactured from 1842 to 1866. Will look for you if i can find more info in my library |

Maybe they shortened the blade? 23,3 wil give some more info i hope. |

German M1842 clones are only 23 mm. The French M1842 have different muzzle ring diameters 21 mm, 22 mm, 23 mm and 26,2 mm. |
