Hello Prest1
Nice stormdolk!
Same number on the scabbard as on the dagger?
There are a few variations in these, mostly in the scabbard configuration.
What you have here is the 2nd model scabbard with the retaining strap added.
As you might know these daggers where first handed out without the strap but after complains about lost daggers they desided to upgrade the scabbards with the strap.
So the scabbard without the strap would be the 1st model.
In both configurations you also have scabbards that had the beltloop widened to be able to be used with the bigger officers belt.
Some scabbards were adapted to be carried in the officers sword carrier.
Then you have scabbards that were made for the marines that also have a larger beltloop and most of the times a brass tag on the back of the beltloop.
But they also just put brass tags on Army model scabbards.
Marine daggers were made out of the Army daggers and first only renumbered by grinding out the army numbers and renumbered with a marine number.
Later the handles of the marine daggers were made removable by putting in a screw in the normaly pinned handles so they could be easly cleaned due to the agressive salt water inviroment thes were used.
Here my daggers and scabbards
