Ik heb me recent bij een Franstalig bajonettenforum aangemeld. Nou is mijn Frans wat "roestig", dus af en toe maak ik gebruik van zo´n website met een vertaalmachine.

Ik gaf daar de volgende Franse tekst in:

On a continué à poduire des fusils Chassepot jusqu'à l'adoption du fusil Gras avec des essais en parallele sur une cartouche métallique durant l'année 1873 sur des fusils Chassepot, Gras et Beaumont.

en dit kwam er in het Engels uit:

They continued Chassepot in poduire of the guns up to the adoption of the Fatty gun with tries in parallele on a metallic cartridge during year 1873 on guns Chassepot, Fat and Beaumont.

En toen kreeg ik buikpijn van het lachen: Fatty gun :mrgreen:

Ik blijf het grappig vinden: police station on foot

The Fatty gun accepts the sword bayonet model 1874 (at the beginning of production March or April, 1875) The rifle of police station on foot as well as the snap clasp of artillery recoivent the sword bayonet 1866. it is necessary to note that on a Fatty gun they can adapt a sword bayonet 1866 and reciprocally (on performed try).
Tries of a sword bayonet of 1873 were destiny originally in the change of the sword bayonet joint Chassepot but tries of Fat and Beaumont in metallic cartouche gave the sword bayonet Fat.

Les essais d'une épée baïonnette de 1873 étaient destinée primitivement au changement du sabre baïonnette Chassepot mais les essais conjoint du Gras et du Beaumont en cartouche métallique ont donné l'épée baïonnette Gras.
